The Lab

The Adaptive Radiofrequency and Plasma Lab (ARPL) is situated on the second floor of the North Engineering Building at The University of Toledo, in room NE 2042. Our primary objective is to address research and educational needs in the broad fields of Applied Electromagnetics and Plasma Science. Our research lab is fully equipped with all the major high-frequency measurement and gas setup equipment, including:

  • Vector Network Analyzer (VNA): Agilent E8362C, 2 port, 10 MHz to 20 GHz
  • Spectrum Analyzer: Agilent E4440A PSA, 3Hz to 26.5 GHz
  • Analog signal generators: Agilent N5181A MXG, 100 kHz to 6 GHz (2)
  • High-Frequency Oscilloscope: Agilent DSA90604A, 6 GHz, 20 GSa/s, 4 Ch
  • Wideband USB Power Sensors: Keysight U2002A (50 MHz to 24 GHz), Keysight U2022XA (50 MHz to 40 GHz)
  • High-power amplifiers: Exodus AMP2070, Ophir 4046R, Ophir 5059, Ophir XRF383, ar50W1000A, ar200L, and HD18194
  • High-power measurement setup elements: RFH18XXSD100-D (DC-18GHz, 100W Attenuator), CF1020N (1-2 GHz, 100 W Circulator), ZCC17S-2-4-100A (2-4 GHz, 100W Circulator), ZDDC40N-2-6-50A (2-6 GHz, 50 W Dual Directional Coupler), ZGBDC30-372HP+ (0.38-3.7 GHz, 250 W Bi-Directional Coupler), RFT18100N2-D (DC-18 GHz, 100 W Termination)
  • High-power DC supplies
  • Gas setup including various gas cylinders, mass flow controllers, connections, adapters, etc.
  • Teledyne Princeton Instruments HRS-500SS Spectrometer system
  • A transparent vacuum chamber with controllable pressure in the range of 10-7 Torr to atmospheric, with DC, RF, and optical interfaces
  • A near-field scanning and EM measurement (probing) setup
